Each August, Sturgis and the Black Hills of South Dakota attract hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the world. The first Sturgis Rally, known as the Black Hills Classic, was held in the summer of 1938 and included a race of nine participants on a dirt track. Today, it's South Dakota's largest tourism event and one of the world's largest motorcycle rallies. The week-long activities include Main Street action, concerts, races, road tours and bike shows. Much of the history of the Sturgis Rally and races can be found at Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame.
